Hi, Jens:

I don't know how to do this with SAMBA and I don't know what Windows
RPC is either.
However, you can control another PC remotely with a Java enabled browser and

I'm trying to script a remote install routine from a linux box. What it's
supposed to do is this:
- Copy file(s) over to a windows 2k/XP
target
- Execute installation commands via windows RPC

The
latter is giving me a headache. I can't find anything in the Samba
documentation or on the web on how to do that. Under windows no problem -
but how do I do that in linux?

Heeeelp! Please? :)

Jens

I think this message might be better of on the samba@lists.samba.org
mailing list.

I have never herd of samba being able to execute commands on remote
windows clients but i do know that executing commands remotely is not
limited to the server so there might be some 3rd party applications out
there n if there isn't it might be a nice idea to make one.

There are some other alternatives e.g. run a ssh server on the clients and
get the ssh server to execute commands or make the clients look for a txt
file on a servers share and execute the content if it exists, however,
this would be a lot of messing about and maybe something you don’t want to
do or have time for.

Matt.

    # windows client logon
    logon drive = L:
    logon script = scripts/logon.bat
    logon path = \\foghorn\profile\%U

There is ^this thing, but again this only works at logon.
