Subject: HP Laserjet 4050TN printer printing postscripts
Date: Tue, 05 Aug 2003 11:38:31 -0400	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <HPNICCEAKPNAOEAA@mailcity.com> (raw)

Hi All,

I have HP LaserJet 4050TN printer on a RedHat Linux distribution. The printer spooling daemon I'm using is "lpd".

Below is the content of my /etc/printcap file

***********************************************************
##PRINTTOOL3## REMOTE laserjet 300x300 a4 {} LaserJet Default 1
hplj4050:\
         :rg=users:\
         :sd=/var/spool/lpd/lp:\
         :mx#0:\
         :sh:\
         :rm=192.168.10.6:\
         :rp=:\
         :if=/var/spool/lpd/lp/filter:

************************************************************

The printer is currently printing postscripts instead of normal text when connected on the network (LAN) but it doesn't when connected to the development server.

Below is a sample taken from the output when printing from the printer connected to the linux server:

*******************************************
Pscript_WinNT_Inr begin
%%BeginResource: file PScript_Encoding256 5.0 0
....
....
%%EndResource
end reinitialize
*******************************************

Currently, the printer is connected to both the LAN and a windows 2000 server machine. It only prints the above output when you print from the linux server but it does print normally when you print from the same printer connected to the windows 2000 server machine.

It used to work but all of a sudden it doesn't work any longer.

Please what might be the problem?

Thanks in adavnce.

Jupiter
