Hiya,
  Though I have easily managed to setup linux ethernets before, this is the
first time I am facing problems. I have two ethernet cards on this P4
machine, which is running Redhat 9. My eth0 connects to the local intranet,
while eth1 connects to the internet through my cable modem. eth1 is
configured to get an ip address automatically through dhcp, while eth0 has a
static address. The problem is, whatever I try to do, eth1 is getting
activated.

  I have set all the parameters for eth1 properly. Also, I have included
"DHCPCDARGS=eth1" in /etc/sysconfig/network.

  One interesting thing that I have noticed is, there is no dhcpcd package
at all. I have searched through-out the cd, and I notice that there is no
dhcpcd rpm package at all. Is it not required in RH 9?

  Please tell me if I have to set any more parameters elsewhere. Directions
towards answers will be always welcome.
  Thanks in advance,

  Subhash Bhushan.

My rh9 box works with the following in
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth1
DEVICE=eth1
BOOTPROTO=dhcp
ONBOOT=yes

AFAIK, there's no need to add anything regarding DHCP to
/etc/sysconfig/network.
