Hi, probably this isn't the best place to ask this, but still:

From the console of the Alphaserver 300 4/266 I try boot dka400
(supposedly the CD-ROM... well at least that's what sh dev says) and it
returns something like: no medium found.

I first noticed the problem when I was trying to get a md5sum from the
RH7.1 CD, I was going to re-install linux...

Does this mean that my CD-ROM is dead?

Please, any help will be welcome.

Thanks in advance

Alan Bort.-

Either the drive is dead, or you didn't burn the ISO image properly...

ok... thanks... The image is fine... In fact I used the same CD to
install over 5 systems... And besides that, I tried with other CDs, even
comercial CDs I own (games and stuff)... so I guess the drive must be
dead then... darn! it was such a fine drive....

Thanks a lot...

or the drive lense is dirty. Can happen, if you have a cd drive
cleaning disk, try that,
good luck!
