This is the second time this has happened in as many weeks, by different
people Obviously, I can spell my own name, know my own email address,
and did not sign off on this patch.

If Signed-off lines have a purpose, that is destroyed by fake ones.
Worse, a future lawyer can now convincingly argue that many
correctly-spelled Signed-off lines are worthless fakes, too.

A few well-placed private slaps on wrists can probably prevent this
becoming common practice.

Rusty.
PS. Of course, it's only the dumb ones being caught at the moment.

I am extremely sorry

I thought the following was applicable here: (from SubmittingPatches)

        (b) The contribution is based upon previous work that, to the best
of my knowledge, is covered under an appropriate open source
license and I have the right under that license to submit that
work with modifications, whether created in whole or in part
by me, under the same open source license (unless I am
permitted to submit under a different license), as indicated
            in the file; or

And since it was publised on lkml (and the signoff process was not in
place then), I thought I could sign you off with a cc. I even added the url
to your original posting. I guess I was wrong. Really sorry :(.

Ouch. I have learnt my lesson.

Btw, what is linux-arch for? I couldn't find the listinfo on vger-lists.

Thanks,
Kiran
