Hi Guys,
I hacked together an addition to btsco which is totally unrelated to
audio.
It basically converts the volume keys into X key events, so you can use
your bluetooth headset to control presentations (slides). Is that
something that would go into btsco? I would guess not, but if you guys
think otherwise I'm happy to send in a patch. Otherwise I will just make
an separate app. for just this.

please do a separate application for this. I like to switch the slides
with my Bluespoon at the 22C3 in Berlin. This would be fun ;)
I still have the epox-presenter application laying around and someone
might put the stuff for the SonyEricsson phones without HID in a similar
application. All three input methods in one application would be great.
Regards
Marcel

That is an interesting idea. Yet another remote control protocol? We've
got at least sco, ericsson+AT, HID, AVRCP. :)
Yes, make it a separate app and we'll put support for the other
protocols in it too. We can also provide another delivery mechanism like
dbus eventually.

I allready fingured that out with Marcel, I will put it into the
epox-presenter app. for now.
BTW. I allready used my btsco-hack for a presentation at school today
and the people where really amazed by me controlling the slides with my
headset :-)

All software sucks equally, but some software is more equal.

cool.
too bad sco voice quality is so poor or you could also use it to amplify
your voice as you give your talk. maybe esco isn't so bad but i haven't
tried it.

we need a better name when I put it into bluez-utils. So please come up
with some proposals.

Even using the EPoX Presenter and running around is quite amazing. The
good thing of this device is the integrated laser pointer. The new ones
are all HID based and so no "special" application is needed.

what about: btpresenter, btclick, btslides (thats what I call my hack at
the moment)

Yes I know, but for those of us who only do very few presentations
everyonce in a while the headset solution is way more cost efficient :-)
... Collin
PS: Maybe just getting a recent sonyericsson phone with builtin HID is
the most efficient but thats a different story...

Marcel and others,
here is epox-presenter (originally written by Marcel!) with generic
headset support...
http://www.mulliner.org/bluetooth/epox-presenter-0.3.tar.gz
It was just to easy to add so it had to be done right now!
Feedback is welcome!
