Hi,
I'm new to this mailinglist and to be honest I'm also new to mailinglists at all.
I recently bought a second-hand notebook (Sony Vaio PCG-Z1M) and I'm trying to get everything
to work atm. Almost everything works quite fine except the bluetooth-device, which is
built-in.
I don't have problems turning the bluetooth-device on and off using sonypi and spicctrl
as the blue led on the laptop, which indicates the bluetooth-device-status, reacts on my
spicctrl commands. Unfortunatly the BlueZ-utils doesn't detect any bluetooth-device even
though I activated it via "spicctrl -l1" and loaded the hci-usb-modul (bluetooth itself
is compiled in the kernel).
If I try to put the device up anyway as it is done on this tutorial I found
( http://www.holtmann.org/linux/bluetooth/vaio.html )
>> hciconfig hci0 up
I only receive this message
>> Can't get device info: No such device
I currently use linux-2.6.9 und slack-10.2.0. It would be great if someone was able to
help me because I just don't know what to do.
Hopefully,
Thomas Keitzl
ps.: I also tried to compile bluetooth as a module.

after activating the Bluetooth device, look at /proc/bus/usb/devices and
check dmesg.

Marcel

hey,
thx for your answer.
after I loaded bluetooth & hci-usb-module and activated the bluetooth-device (the blue led is now on),
I neither find anything at /var/log/messages
nor anything at /proc/bus/usb/devices.
nevertheless, here's the output:
>cat /proc/bus/usb/devices
>> T: Bus=01 Lev=00 Prnt=00 Port=00 Cnt=00 Dev#= 1 Spd=480 MxCh= 6
