Hi Marcel!
Man your fanatic with your bluez driver! good work!
I've got some more for you :-)
I've done the stuff you told me to, rebuild kernel with patch applied
and it works better! but after half a minute or something the connection
breaks again... and after pinging over the ppp I get the same message...
uuuugh...
What to do next??

Hi Geert,

don't use bluez-kernel-2.3, because my latest -mh patch should be
enough.

I don't own a Palm so I don't know. Check the connection if it is a PPP
error or a RFCOMM error. Question is why this stalls.

I've been working to get my palm to connect using bluetooth....
Guess wat my problem was... I had the affix drivers also
installed/loaded ....ughh... yea stupid wanker I know. I've got it
working using affix (sorry, It started to work faster...)now, anyways
why should I swich to bluez?? I know if I don't want to I don't have to
but putting it in a other way why is bluez part of the kernel and not
affix?

BlueZ is the official Linux Bluetooth stack and it is a well written and
designed Bluetooth stack. Look at my slides from

	http://www.holtmann.org/papers/bluetooth/wtc2003_slides.pdf

and search the one which compares the mailing list activity of both. You
can decide by yourself why BlueZ is part of the kernel and why Affix is
not. If it comes to the source code, the supported protocols & profiles
and hardware drivers BlueZ always wins.

I have read the RFCOMM protocol of Bluetooth Specification, and want to read the
source code of the rfcomm in Bluez, but I don't find it in the bluez-kernel-2.2
packet.Where is it?

	thanks in advance.

Hello,

I've met a problem using a bluetooth device and I don't now what to do...
I'm trying to connect a master device (at least I suppose... because the
PC is waiting for the data and l2ping doesn't work) that sends data to my
PC (Linux Fedora Core 4) when I ask it. Until now, I use hcidump to see
data from the device :

Linux : hcidump
Device : Transmit button

It gives me that :

hcidump then stays in blocking way, probably waiting for the device to
send something to it. I wonder if it usual to have "DM" packet in respons=
e
to an "PN CMD". I read bluez archives this afternoon and read Marcel pdf
to understand bluetooth protocol. I also found a quoatation saying a "PN
CMD" request can be a "PN CMD" or a "DM" answer. I wonder if my Linux
configuration is good. I had already had a problem with the DUN connectio=
n
that was blocking hcidump here :

> ACL data: handle 41 flags 0x02 dlen 19
    L2CAP(d): cid 0x0040 len 15 [psm 1]
SDP SS Req: tid 0x1 len 0xa
          pat uuid-32 0x1103 (DUN)
          max 40
          cont 00

I solved it with :

1. service dund start
2. sdptool add DUN
3. sdpd

And now the trace is longer but I can't still get my data... Did I miss
something else ? I can't find PN CMD in bluetooth specifiaction (what
Parameter Negotiation means ?), I'm not sure it is due to that...

Have you already meet this problem ?

Thanks in advance

Steve

Hi,Marcel,

hciattach /dev/ttyS1 any 57600 noflow.

but if I change to 115200,it says :Can't init device hci0: Connection timed out (110). it seems that only 57600 is right!

with an UART speed of 57600 you Bluetooth data transfer is limited. If
these are CSR chips then you can use the type csr or bcsp and it is
possible to change the initial baud rate of these chips.

Hello you all

Just a fast (and hope easy) question

Is there any way to know the Golden Range defined for a Bluetooth device??
(I have search the list of HCI commands and haven’t found it)

Thanks in advance!!

Esther

There's no easy and portable way.

The spec tells you where it's allowed to be, but finding out exactly
where it is for a given device is tricky. You'll need some vendor
specific commands and probably a pile of documentation.

At least I was succesfull with Pairing, by using the KDE BT Manager.

But now I`m having th following Problem:
When I play a soundfile in xmms und I want to stream the Output to the
Headset, I get the following Error:

Maybe, that someone had the same error und solved it succesful?

Thanks.
