I'm just learning the palm, but it appears you need to set up the 
bluetooth connection in order to do anything with it. No matter anyway, 
now I can't even get the palm to see the dongle or the linux box to 
discover the palm. Arghhh! What have I done? (the palm still has 
bluetooth on and the device is discoverable).
