I'm trying to pair my palm tungsten e2 with a 2.6.11-gentoo-r9 box. I
currently use a bluetooth keyboard & mouse, so bluez is working on the
gentoo box. I can discover the palm from linux..
myth1 ~ # hcitool scan
Scanning ...
00:07:E0:71:37:54 vsailer
and the palm discovers the bluetooth dongle. On the palm I attempt to
pair, typing in a passkey, which I then type on the gentoo box but back
on the palm I get "Unable to add Myth1 BlueZ(0) to your trusted device
list". hcidump gives me....
< HCI Command: PIN Code Request Reply (0x01|0x000d) plen 23

Reason: Remote User Terminated Connection
I know it appears the problem is with the palm, but I'm not sure what
else to try here. Didn't find much in the palm newsgroups.

I have no idea, because as you correctly said, the Palm is at fault here
(if your PIN code was '1' on both sides).
However don't try to pair at all. If an authentication is really needed
you will asked for the PIN code at that time. Simply start to use your
Palm.

Marcel

I'm just learning the palm, but it appears you need to set up the
bluetooth connection in order to do anything with it. No matter anyway,
now I can't even get the palm to see the dongle or the linux box to
discover the palm. Arghhh! What have I done? (the palm still has
bluetooth on and the device is discoverable).

ok, after resetting (turning off/on did not do it) the palm, I'm back to
where I was. The devices discover eachother but the connection is
failing at the palm. As I said, it appears I need to get a "trusted
device" established on the palm before continuing.

I've tried this on both linux & windows xp with the same result. Is this
problem related to "profiles"
(http://www.bluetooth.com/help/trouble.asp). Seems likely since my
dongle is for a microsoft keyboard & mouse. But surely "profiles" isn't
a hardware issue, is it? How do I address this on the linux box?
