Brad,

these settings worked almost perfectly.  It's worth noting that the
mouse is somewhat less responsive when audio is going out to the
headset.  However, it's certainly tolerable, and not nearly as bad as
the "slushy mouse" effect I've experienced in the past.  Thank you!

[If you have a moment, I'd still like to know what those changes
actually did and why they're not the defaults]
