From: Dinh Nguyen <dinh.nguyen@linux.intel.com>

The driver supports 64-bit SoCFPGA platforms for temperature and voltage
reading using the platform's SDM(Secure Device Manager). The driver
also uses the Stratix10 Service layer driver.

This driver only supports OF SoCFPGA 64-bit platforms.

+Kernel driver socfpga-hwmon
+===========================
+
+Supported chips:
+
+ * Intel Stratix10
+ * Intel Agilex
+ * Intel N5X
+
+Author: Dinh Nguyen <dinh.nguyen@linux.intel.com>
+
+Description
+-----------
+
+This driver supports hardware monitoring for 64-Bit SoCFPGA and eASIC devices
+based around the Secure Device Manager and Stratix 10 Service layer.
+
+The following sensor types are supported:
+
+ * temperature
+ * voltage
+
+Usage Notes
+-----------
+
+The driver relies on a device tree node to enumerate support present on the
+specific device. See Documentation/devicetree/bindings/hwmon/intel,socfpga-hwmon.yaml
+for details of the device-tree node.

+
+maintainers:
+ - Dinh Nguyen <dinh.nguyen@linux.intel.com>
+
+description: |
+ The Intel SoCFPGA hardware monitor unit provides on-chip voltage and
+ temperature sensors. You can use these sensors to monitor external
+ voltages and on-chip operating conditions such as internal power rails
+ and on-chip junction temperatures.
+
+ The specific sensor configurations vary for each device family and
+ each device within a family does not offer all potential sensor
+ options. The information below attempts to illustrate the super set of
+ possible sensor options that are potentially available within each
+ device family, but the user should check the documentation for the
+ specific device they are using to verify which sensor options it
+ actually provides.

Hi,

renaming n to something like sensor_count would allow other people
to immediately understand what n does.

socfpga_is_visible() should actually check the number of temp/voltage channels ("n")
discovered over dt, and return 0 if a channel does not exist. Otherwise socfpga_read()
could access temperature.chan[channel] and voltage.chan[channel] with "channel" being
out-of-bounds and chan[channel] still being zero from devm_kzalloc().
Something similar would happen in socfpga_read_string().

With two sensors entries sharing a line, someone might accidentally think that the driver
supports only up to 8 temp/voltage channels instead of 16.

Could it be that stratix10_svc_free_channel() needs to be called if
devm_hwmon_device_register_with_info() fails?
In such a case devm_add_action_or_reset() would be useful.

The hwmon device registered with devm_hwmon_device_register_with_info() is
already cleaned-up by devres, hwmon_device_unregister() should not be called here.

> +	stratix10_svc_free_channel(priv->chan);

Using devm_add_action_or_reset() would allow for socfpga_hwmon_remove() to be dropped.

Where do you drop child reference?

Hm, and if the loop does not break, is this still correct?

Please test it. I am pretty sure you will have double free here.

These are all compatible, so why having 4 entries?

Best regards,
Krzysztof

Bindings are before they are used in driver.

The last one is too gerneric. Anyway your driver suggests all of them
are compatible.

That's not what your DTS is saying. Are you sure you tested it?

voltage does not have reg. also, the minimum/maximum does not fit your
2-7 at all. Entire part should be probably just maxItems, but anyway I
don't really understand what you want to express here. Especially that
it does not match your DTS.

Same problems, does not make any sense. 40002 is higher than 1.

Node names should be generic, so maybe just hwmon.
https://devicetree-specification.readthedocs.io/en/latest/chapter2-devicetree-basics.html#generic-names-recommendation

Test your bindings. Your bindings or this part do not match at all.
Driver does not match it either.

Yes, since NULL is okay for of_node_put(). However the explicit call inside the
if (ret) can be more obvious on what's going on.

Thanks for the review. I've addressed all of your comments in V3.

Not sure what you mean here? Can you clarify?

Thanks,

for_each_child_of_node() bumps a reference of the current (iterator) node, when
the loop is interrupted it's a user (of for_each macro) responsibility to drop
it.
