Ok.  So, in any case fdt_root_offset() would need modification to
handle this: otherwise it will ignore the BEGIN_NODE_REF tag and
continue on, possibly finding a BEGIN_NODE *within* one of the pieces
and incorrectly reporting that as the root.

Agreed.  Feel free to repost just the NOP before root patches on their
own.  At this time, frequent small series is easier for me to tackle
than occasional large series.
