The problem is that if you discover SYNCHRONIZE_CACHE doesn't work then its a
bit late, because you probably have cached data. Doing write through also
trashes performance on a lot of devices so you don't want to default that way
IMHO the best approach may be to match the offending adapters by their USB
identifier and then do write through caching somewhere or other as a result.
