Hi. Please see on attached images (sorry for the length): On "fbvtati9000.jpg": This is the PC with AGP ATI9000 (two monitor connectors) and ISA monochrome mda. At the left is an vt on tty2. It is at the main connector of the ATI9000. At the center is a monitor connected to the second connector of the ATI9000 (BTW, it is DVI). No vt there. HERE IS THE MISSING CAPABILITY. At the right is an vt on tty10 (Alt+F10). It is a monochrome monitor connected to an ISA Hercules compatible mda, using module 'hgafb'. Characters appearing are those of the "euro" and the "euro cent", although as seen 'linux_logo' is not too friendly to the mda module 'hgafb'. On "fbvtmatrox.jpg": This is an old PC with ATI128 and Matrox Mystique PCI boards. It has also an ISA Hercules compatible mda, but I have no room for a monitor. At the left is an vt on tty2. It is at the ATI128. At the right is an vt on tty8 (Alt+F8). It is at the Mystique using module 'matroxfb_base'. As before, characters appearing are those of the "euro" and the "euro cent". Merry Christmas. ----- Mensaje original ----- Enviado: sábado, 20 de diciembre de 2003 7:53 Asunto: Re: [Linux-fbdev-devel] Re: Framebuffer vt's second monitor ATI9000 : On Sat, 2003-12-20 at 08:14, Kronos wrote: : > Il Fri, Dec 19, 2003 at 12:52:36PM +0100, Javier Vizcaino ha scritto: : > > : > Questions: : > > : > -Is it possible to have framebuffer based vt's on the second connector of the ATI board? : > > : > -How should I proceed (modules, options, etc)? : > > : : > > : I don't think radeonfb does real multi-head yet. : > > : > > **** If you ever find some info about this, or if it is other the module for it, : > > please let me know. : > : > Ben Herrenschmidt is working on a new version of the driver (see : > bk://ppc.bkbits.net/linuxppc-2.5-benh). Multihead support is not there : > yet, but it's in the TODO list. : : Definitely. I'm not yet sure how I'll deal with some issues related : to multihead, like enabling/disabling mirroring, telling XFree (when : using UseFBDev) which /dev/fbs are multiple heads of the same card, : etc... All that is basically lacking in the fbdev API at this point. : : I'm also a bit swamped with work lately so I had to put my radeonfb : work on hold for a while. Of course, any help on that is welcome ;) : : Ben. : :
