Does the radeonfb (kernel-2.4.18) support the 7500 or 8500 chip?

Yes, they are supported in current 2.4 kernel.  However dualhead with
these chips (and VE) will only be supported in future 2.5 kernels.

but the dvi connection for LCDs are supported, right?
