Hello,
could anyone explain what kind of misconfiguration of framebuffer in OpenFirmware
or in general would cause the vertical stripes effect? White stripes, width about the
same as the width of characters and some garbage pixels between lines on black background.
If the white stripes would stick together, the screen with letters would look in order.
AFAIK, OF doesn't initialize the video card (IMS TT 128mb8) and i get the same under
offb driver(unless i use the hacked version of imsttfb).
In what should i look into to fix that? I have the documentation for TVP3030 ramdac.

Which kernel are you using? What is configuration?

A IMS card user. Could you try out the imsttfb driver as well. I liek to
know how well it works in 2.5.X.

Stock 2.4 kernels with video=imsttfb:vmode:12 boot parameters. I need to
modify the DAC type detection for the IMS to work properly..original
wrongly detects IBM ramdac.. PCI ID's are used wrongly i suppose.
Otherwise if i use offb i get the above mentioned effects as OF does not
initialize the dac..so i belive.

I don't think there's any maintainer for this driver. Any patch
fixing this appreciated :)

I will try to add/fix detection of 9130 type of card..i don't know how
since the pci ID is the same as for 9128..maybe with the help of OF.
But first i must get 2.5.x up and running :)
BTW, i heard there were problems with cursor under 2.4...anything like
getting different colors of cursor on every console?

I think console cursor color is fairly random in anything but 8 bpp
in 2.4, at least it is black for me
Ben.

Tried 2.5.67 with fbdev patch..it displays the logo and boot messages till
bottom of the screen(time to scroll the text?), then hangs.
With console on ttyS0, the kernel seems to boot fine..
I didn't include ADB keyboard(compile problem)..could this be a problem
to the console susbystem? (highly unlikely, but i had to ask just in
case :)
BTW, what tool could i use to test the fb itself? (besides the mace :)

`fbtest', from linux-fbdev CVS on Sourceforge.
