What do you mean by "extra padding" ?
I just reused the indentation used in the pwm_device struct.

Would you prefer something like that ?

	unsigned int period; 		/* in nanoseconds */
	unsigned int duty_cycle;	/* in nanoseconds */
	enum pwm_polarity polarity;
};
