I've sent him detailed debug info a couple of times. It happens on all my analog LCD panels, I have four different ones. Next time I'm playing around with radeonfb I'll try and debug it. Otto is correct about the behavior, it the match is perfect the mode will be set. If the match is not perfect you get 640x480 no matter what the input.
