It's also useful to put some actual content in your subjects.

So instead of:

[RFC][2.6 patch 0/7] v9fs 2.0-rc5 - 9P2000 Support For Linux 2.6
[RFC][2.6 patch 1/7] v9fs 2.0-rc5 - 9P2000 Support For Linux 2.6
[RFC][2.6 patch 2/7] v9fs 2.0-rc5 - 9P2000 Support For Linux 2.6

Do:

[RFC][patch 0/7] v9fs: the Plan 9 network filesystem (2.0-rc5)
[RFC][patch 1/7] v9fs: documentation, makefiles, config
[RFC][patch 2/7] v9fs: core protocol bits
[RFC][patch 3/7] v9fs: core filesystem bits
[RFC][patch 4/7] v9fs: helper routines
[RFC][patch 5/7] v9fs: the bits that touch VFS

This gives us much more information about what is where, and gives
hints of what patches I might be interested in looking at.
