Gegroet,
With this email, I would like to announce the existence of a new
mailing-list on yahoo-groups called "gmfsk-devel".
The goal of this list is the discuss the further developement of gmfsk,
the HAM digital-mode program originally written by Tomi Manninen OH2BNS.
(see http://gmfsk.connect.fi/ for more info on gmfsk).
As the official developement of the program by Tommi has stopped for
some time now, some people have started to addapt and extend the program
by themself. This mailing-list is aimed to bring all these people
together.
gmfsk provides a great GUI for some HAM-related digital modes; and -as
it is published under the GPL-licence- it can be concidered a good
starting-point for people interested in programming digital modes or
extending the program with other modes.
More info:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/gmfsk-devel/
To join the list via email, sent a message to
"gmdsk-devel-subscribe@yahoogroups.com".
Membership to the list is modurated for anti-spamming reasons; but
-appart from that- the list is open to anybody.
Cheerio! Kr. Bonne

I think it would be better to find a real mailing list for open source
software development, rather than use the closed Yahoo system.
Perhaps moving the project to Sourceforge or similar is a good idea.
IMHO.

Robb

Gegroet,
Well, it may surprise you a little bit, but I do actually agree with
you. If you read the "introduction", I actually mention this list as
being "tempory" and moving it to sourceforge is my main goal.
But, I do not have any experience on setting up sourceforge-webpages
(while do I already have two lists on yahoo) and -when the traffic
starts going on the list and the people of the different projects do
start to talk- a move to a more suited system will probably happen.
My main goal now is to bring everybody together. After that, we can work
from there on.
I actually had my first 6 members in as less as 12 minutes; so it starts
OK. There do seams to be quite some people interested in this program.
(it does is a very good piece of work, if you ask me; all my respects to
mr. Manninen.
Cheerio!

Why not ask the webmaster at vger to host it?

That would be POSTmaster, and with suitable hat on...
... the answer is: No, won't. Go for some other service provider.

Sourceforge is a _giant_ pain in the ass. Since several weeks they don't
update their external CVS servers anymore nor is there an easy way to get
the ,v files to migrate projects elsewhere. Their ftp servers are
unusable, web downloads are a pain to use and the general reaction to
problem reports shows little cooperation.
I don't have tons of resources to throw at hosting projects atm but I
guess I can offer hosting for a small number of interesting projects at
linux-ax25.org. The domain btw. was setup as reaction of sourceforge
becoming essentially useless for hosting projects this month as explained
above.
