Hi Doug,
You may consider using FPAC.
FPAC is a suite of utility program similar to AWZnode, around a packet node switch FPAD.
It has been written by Jean-Paul F6FBB.
It provides routing interface with Rose and NetRom protocoles to FBB BBS.
It has been adapted to 2.6 kernel.

There are presently a number of FBB-FPAC users around the world (Australia, Canada,
France, Florida, Honduras, Costa Rica...)
