I tried to explain it with a drawing:

So: I do a axcall to an fbb running on the same pi but via 2 connected 
traceivers that are 400 meters away from each other. Session setup 
works(!!), I get to see the BBS welcome screen but as soon as I press 
enter to send my name, things crash. So this is after a succesful SABM 
etc. Also sending beacons (via remote or local tranceiver) does not 
trigger anything.
