Still seeing
add/remove: 49/13 grow/shrink: 280/137 up/down: 6464/-3328 (3136)

on m68k atari_defconfig (i.e.CONFIG_CC_OPTIMIZE_FOR_SIZE=y)
with gcc version 9.4.0 (Ubuntu 9.4.0-1ubuntu1~20.04).
