Hi,
I'm trying to connect USB 2.0 Multi-Slots 6-in-1 card reader to my
computer usb1.1 port(usb version doesn't matter in this case) and I've
got this message in syslog
Nov 20 14:34:00 snife wait_for_sysfs[9477]: either wait_for_sysfs (udev
045) needs an update to handle the device
'/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:05.2/usb1/1-2/1-2:1.0' properly (no bus
device link) or the sysfs-support of your device's driver needs to be
fixed, please report to <linux-hotplug-devel@lists.sourceforge.net>
Nov 20 14:34:00 snife wait_for_sysfs[9485]: either wait_for_sysfs (udev
045) needs an update to handle the device '/block/uba' properly (no bus
device link) or the sysfs-support of your device's driver needs to be
fixed, please report to <linux-hotplug-devel@lists.sourceforge.net>
The same message shows whenever I'm trying to use my Transcend Pendrive
disk in my computer.
I'm using udev 045 on Gentoo. These devices are 100% working(under
deprecated devfs without problems)
Did I misconfigured something in kernel?
My HP Camera connected as drive works fine - so I think that it's not
kernel issue but maybe I'm wrong?
Thanks in advance for any information.

The up driver does not support multi-lun devices as far as I know. You
may try the usb-storage module for that device.

How does "ls -l /sys/bus/usb/devices/" look?

Are these messages also printed at the first connect after a reboot?

These messages are just telling you that something is wrong with the
sysfs representation of the device. But it should work anyway.
Thanks,
Kay

Well, I've got usb-storage compiled into my kernel.

The Kingston DataTraveler works fine Transcend not :/
It doesn't matter without restart or with restart - situation with Flash
Drive is the same but restart was partialy helpful for multicard reader
- it doesnt claim about this syslog message
So for now I should wait for udev handling multi lun devices?
Thanks,
Milu

Please try without the ub module if the same errors happen.
> So for now I should wait for udev handling multi lun devices?
No, udev does only care what sysfs presents and if the driver creates
the devices in the kernel, udev will handle it well.

Without ub works much better - everything is right.
I forgot about this driver in kernel when I was moving from devfs to
udev.

OK. This was only driver issue - wrong driver for the device.
Big thanks for help. The problem is now solved.
