Hi there,
I have never submitted anything like this before so I'll do the basics
I'm running Fedora Core 3
With VTun ver (Name,0) 04/24/2003

After a successful connect I get the following in my /var/log/messages file

wait_for_sysfs[13166]: either wait_for_sysfs (udev 039) needs an update to
handle the device '/class/net/tun1' properly (no device symlink) or the
sysfs-support of your device's driver needs to be fixed, please report to
linux-hotplug-devel@lists.sourceforge.net

Should you require any further information by all means ask.

Cheers
Darren

That's already fixed in a later version of udev.

Thanks,
Kay

Next time someone needs to collect data like this,
instead of having the message request a post to an
email list, perhaps it should point to a web page.

Initially, the web page would then ask for the email
posting. But then it could be changed - to explain
that it no longer mattered.

Well, we never counted on a distro actually leaving those messages in :)

Almost all of the reports here are because of Fedora Core 3 picking up
wait_for_sysfs a bit early in it's development process.

Oh well, we learn and move on :)

thanks,

greg k-h

Ah - ok. My condolences.

Yeah, but the good point is that it annoyed me so much. :) It was the
incentive to export what to wait for (PHYSDEVPATH, PHYSDEVBUS) from the
kernel (2.6.10), which seems to work well.

Yes, a link to a web page is a good idea. We may try that next time.

Thanks,
Kay
