I have udev version 045 on kernel 2.6.9 and I'm trying to use a software
usb mass storage "device" that runs on my Tungsten T3 (called Softick Card
Export.
On my work laptop (Windoze XP), it works ok, but on my Linux box I get:
Dec 6 07:59:27 dhamma wait_for_sysfs[31176]: either wait_for_sysfs (udev
045) needs an update to handle the device
'/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1d.7/usb1/1-3/1-3.1/1-3.1:1.0' properly (no
bus device link) or the sysfs-support of your device's driver needs to be
fixed, please report to <linux-hotplug-devel@lists.sourceforge.net>
The contents of the mentioned sysfs directory are:
dhamma 1-3.1:1.0 # ls -la
total 0
drwxr-xr-x 4 root root 0 Dec 6 07:59 .
drwxr-xr-x 4 root root 0 Dec 6 07:59 ..
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 4096 Dec 6 07:59 detach_state
drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 0 Dec 6 07:59 host4
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 0 Dec 6 07:59 power
Nothing seems to appear in the /dev directory for the "device" at all. Is
there something I can do about this?
Thanks

It's not a hotplug or udev related problem. If you compile your own
kernels you may try 2.6.10-rc3 as it fixed a few issues I had with
usb-storage.
Or alternatively try the ub driver if it is able to handle that device.
If it doesn't help you may ask on the linux-usb-devel list.
