Hi
Setup: Fedora Core 3 on Presario laptop
Problem: When mounting a USB flash device for the second time (after
first mounting and unmounting) it is not recognized
and /var/log/messages has:
Feb 12 10:49:36 localhost wait_for_sysfs[3968]: either wait_for_sysfs
(udev 039) needs an update to handle the device '/block/sda' properly
(no bus device link) or the sysfs-support of your device's driver needs
to be fixed, please report to <linux-hotplug-
devel@lists.sourceforge.net>
Here is dmesg from the first insertion:
usb 1-1: new full speed USB device using address 3
SCSI subsystem initialized
Initializing USB Mass Storage driver...
scsi0 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices
Vendor: Generic Model: STORAGE DEVICE Rev: 1.25
Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 02
USB Mass Storage device found at 3
usbcore: registered new driver usb-storage
USB Mass Storage support registered.
SCSI device sda: 256000 512-byte hdwr sectors (131 MB)
sda: Write Protect is off
sda: Mode Sense: 02 00 00 00
sda: assuming drive cache: write through
sda: sda1
Attached scsi removable disk sda at scsi0, channel 0, id 0, lun 0
It can be unmounted:
usb 1-1: USB disconnect, address 3
And here is the second insertion:
usb 1-1: new full speed USB device using address 4
scsi1 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices
Vendor: Generic Model: STORAGE DEVICE Rev: 1.25
Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 02
It doesn't proceed to assign the device to sda1. Removing the
usb_storage module from the kernel and reinserting it allows remounting.
Thanks for your help,
Bruce

Please upgrade your version of udev to a newer one.
Also, what kernel version are you using?
