We here at Ubuntu Towers have turfed up an interesting problem in the
last couple of days, there's still a large bunch of consumer USB devices
such as scanners and "libgphoto2" cameras that don't work with the
uevent system.

Instead if seems that to communicate these devices you need to use
libusb, which uses a file under /proc/bus/usb/devices/NNN/NNN -- rather
than any sensible node under /dev.

The lack of any node under /dev also seems to mean that there isn't any
sysfs support for these devices.

What's the long-term plan for things like this?
