simulacron:/udev# find -type b -or -type c |wc -l
281
simulacron:/dev# find -type b -or -type c |wc -l
830
the difference is 512 devices for virtual terminals (obsolete)
and
simulacron:/dev# find vcc/ floppy/0u* pts/ printers/ -type b -or -type c |wc -l
37
so devfs supports the same set of devices,
plus three legacy devices (fd0u*, vcs*, vcsa*, pty* ,tty[p-z]*)
I haven't seen one, is there a patch for printers somwhere?
If so, I can start using udev without missing anything essential.
(I know, I could kick my old printer and buy a usb printer, they
are supported. But ...)
Thanks for the good work.
Regards, Andreas

thanks. 2.6.1 + 10 patches posted yesterday:
via sysfs I can create all devices, except
512 pty/tty[p-q] devices (obsolete?) and
those 15 fd0u* devices (obsolete?).
Good work!
