I'd like to announce a new mailing list that has been started up to
focus on adding support to Linux for hotplug memory.
As I personally know of at least 3 different groups at 3 different
companies working on this feature, and all of them don't seem to want to
talk together on linux-kernel or linux-mm, this list is for them, and
anyone else who wants to help.
Please everyone, work together and stop re-inventing the wheel...
Info on joining the list can be found at:
https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/linux-hotplug-memory
The list is open to any posters (subscription not required), and no HTML
messages are allowed on it. The address is:
linux-hotplug-memory@lists.sourceforge.net
If anyone has any questions or problems with the list, please let me
know.
thanks,
greg k-h

Does this already include the s390 kernel team? We are definitely
interested in this. Note that we already have one (rather limited)
solution for memory unplug in arch/s390/mm/cmm.c, but this is far
from real memory hotplug and uses an architecture feature that is
probably not available anywhere else.

I don't think I knew about s390, at least. That makes 4 :) I don't see
arch/s390/mm/cmm.c in 2.6.3. Is it in another tree?

No, I wasn't aware of that group. Here are the ones I did know about:
- IBM (intel and power processor based)
- Intel
- Fujitsu
It sounds like there are others out there too.
I also was just pointed at the mailing list at:
http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?forum_id"3
which is for Linux hotplug memory stuff and has been around for years.
I also wasn't aware of it (and neither were the IBM people who asked me
to create this new list.)
So everyone go and join the lhms-devel list instead, I'll go and
shutdown the linux-hotplug-memory list as it doesn't really need to be
created.
Sorry for the noise...

What makes you think they'll want to talk together on this
list, then ? ;)
