I noticed that compiling udev with KLIBC means that the permissions for
the nodes don't get set. Is this correct?

Also, what is the actual difference between udev compiled with KLIBC
and udev compiled without? Like, what are the uses?

Not true, they will get set, just you had to use a number instead of a
name. The next release will have this fixed.

The size of the binary is a lot smaller. This is usefull for using udev
in initrd or initramfs at early boot.
