Hi,
I'm not sure if this is the right place for this, but here goes:
I have a system with an ASUS A7V600-X motherboard (KT600 + VIA 8237 sb),
running gentoo linux with 2.4.25.
Now, depending on how many usb devices I have connected, I'm having many
problems with hotplug. Typically, there is just a bluetooth usb dongle,
and a usb to serial converter.
With just those two devices, hotplug starts ok (at boot) and everyhting
works, + any more usb storage devices I might add. However, when I try
to restart hotplug, I get this from hotplug:
* Stopping USB and PCI hotplugging...
* Starting USB and PCI hotplugging...
/sbin/runscript.sh: line 528: 6546 Segmentation fault $RC start
/sbin/runscript.sh: line 528: 6547 Segmentation fault $RC start
/sbin/runscript.sh: line 528: 6548 Segmentation fault $RC start
and in /var/log/messages:

(sorry for the line-warping, well, some kernel panics).
At this point, most of the apps I try to use fail with seg fault.
(strace shows that they hang when trying to access /dev/tty)
I've done some search, but I havent found any issues, relating to this
motherboard and linux. I'm not sure if this is a hotplug issue or not,
however things do screw up like this even with kernel 2.6.4.
Having more devices connected at boot up, can lead up to kde not
starting, or a complete hang up of the machine while booting.
I'm using the latest hotplug (20040105).
So, any ideas about this? Do I have a buggy mobo? The bluetooth dongle
is a gigabyte and the serial to usb a prolific thing, that uses the
pl2303 module.
Sorry if this isnt the place for bug reports, but I really cant find any
more info on the net. Anything I could try?
Thanks,
Emmanuel Vasilakis

No answer probably means no one has the same problem, or knows what it
could be.
