It is a dbus issue (I just discovered that hal.hotplug has the same
problem, it reliably takes 1.5s to run) but it's not the same one
somebody else reported. The problem does not happen when the dbus daemon
has not been loaded (in this case connect(2) quickly fails), but when
it's active.
