Hi,

I have a linux-2.6.5 system, gentoo-hotplug-20040401 und
gentoo-udev-025-r1. The USB-Interface of the computer is connected to an
Iiyama Monitor Hub, and the Hub is connected to a mouse and an external
120 GB Harddisk. The harddisk was formatting already several hours.
Yesterday, when I want to leave my working place, I switched of the
monitor. Then I switched on and the mouse pointer was no more moving.
'mkfs.vfat -c -F 32 /dev/sda1' is since that time in D+ state. lsusb
does not show my mouse:

root@moen:/root(6)# lsusb
Bus 005 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 003 Device 011: ID 04b4:6830 Cypress Semiconductor Corp.
Bus 003 Device 008: ID 04e1:0201 Iiyama North America, Inc. Monitor Hub
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000

I thought, that the module hid was not loaded. So I executed 'modprobe
hid', but it did not help. The "Cypress" line from lsusb points to the
external harddisk, but removing the harddisk cable does not change the
output of lsusb. So I follow, that the complete USB system is not
working. That's why I tried to stop the hotplug system and I wanted to
restart it later. But stopping hotplug hangs, because rmmod in
/etc/hotplug/usb.rc is in D+ state

root@moen:/root(15)# psgrep rmmod
USER PID %CPU %MEM VSZ RSS TTY STAT START TIME COMMAND
root 9709 0.0 0.0 1336 388 tty1 D+ 10:18 0:00 rmmod ehci-hcd
root 10186 0.0 0.0 1340 392 tty2 D+ 10:23 0:00 rmmod usbserial
root 11547 0.0 0.0 1340 392 tty3 D+ 10:46 0:00 rmmod uhci-hcd
root 12657 0.0 0.0 1340 392 tty4 D+ 11:22 0:00 rmmod hid

The commands 'rmmod usbserial' and 'rmmod hid' have been entered
manually. Would be there any possibility to reactive the USB system
without rebooting?

Use 2.6.6, this bug should be fixed there.
