Have you seen the REPORTING-BUGS file? Testing 2.6.9-rc3 and 2.6.8.1 might help. You should followup on linux-usb-devel. google based on your hardware for other failure reports, and also search usb-devel for your hardware, here is a decent archive: http://news.gmane.org/gmane.linux.usb.devel usb-devel will want lspci -v output, see the kernel source REPORTING-BUGS for details.
