Hi -
I've recently been getting some problems loading firmware on my fedora-
core-devel system using an intel ipw2200 wireless device. Here's the log
(from my syslog):
Oct 20 13:33:22 nuance kernel: ipw2200: Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200/2915
Network Driver, 0.12
Oct 20 13:33:22 nuance kernel: ipw2200: Copyright(c) 2003-2004 Intel
Corporation

GSI 11 (le vel, low) -> IRQ 11
Oct 20 13:33:22 nuance kernel: ipw2200: Detected Intel PRO/Wireless
2200BG Netwo rk Connection
Oct 20 13:33:32 nuance kernel: ipw2200: ipw2200_boot.fw load failed
Oct 20 13:33:32 nuance kernel: ipw2200: Unable to load firmware:

Oct 20 13:33:32 nuance kernel: ipw2200: failed to register network
device
Oct 20 13:33:32 nuance kernel: ipw2200: probe of 0000:02:02.0 failed
with error -5
Oct 20 13:33:33 nuance wait_for_sysfs[8527]: either wait_for_sysfs (udev
038) needs an update to handle the device '/class/firmware/0000:02:02.0'
properly (4) or the sysfs-support of your device's driver needs to be
fixed, please report to <linux-hotplug-devel@lists.sourceforge.net>
Oct 20 13:33:53 nuance udev[8551]: removing device node
'/dev/0000:02:02.0'
The firmware and drivers can be found at ipw2200.sf.net.
I have no idea how i'd even go about solving this, so hopefully someone
on this list knows what to do.
Thanks,
Matt Jones

Upgrade to udev-039, if you're running 038.
Bill

It is caused by /etc/hotplug.d/default/05-wait_for_sysfs.hotplug, which
waits too long and the kernel gives up to wait for the firmware.
Please upgrade to a later udev version. This bug is already fixed.
Sorry for that,
Kay
