Oh yeah, a number of us are _very_ aware of that :) So much so that the -mm tree has a patch that reduces that very memory footprint, and those patches are trying valiantly to make it into the mainline kernel tree. That being said, putting a single, small (less than a single page) file for every device node in the system in tmpfs should not be a big deal.
