A related question since I didn't notice a reply to my own message:
Is it just the case that printing this message was a simple bug? Or is it the
case that the message was caused by another underlying problem which has since
be fixed?
I ask because in my case, the drive really didn't show up in /dev, so I assume
it was a real failure. Also, the lack of response to my specific message would
back this up, so this email doubles as a prod.
