Hi,

Any reason not using autoconfig (.configure) during installation/build of
the udev program.
Makes life eaisier when udev has to be cross-compiled for different CPU's.

Is there any obstacles implementing autoconfig.

Greg are u. planning to do this?

/Pelle

But it's not so hard either; most of what autoconfig does is adjust for
different libraries. Cross-compiling is easy; buildroot now uses this:

        $(MAKE) CROSS=$(TARGET_CROSS) GCC=$(TARGET_CC) \
                USE_LOGúlse USE_SELINUXúlse \
                udevdir=$(UDEV_ROOT) -C $(UDEV_DIR)

Which works fine, though actually installing it into a new root image
so that the image will be bootable on the target is a different puzzle.

No. udev already works just fine with cross-compilers, and a variety of
different libcs. autoconf is only needed if you want to rely on
external libraries (which udev does not), or want to build on different
OSes (which udev does not.)

Is there any problems you are having building udev?

thanks,
