Hi,

It seems that I'm not getting any call to /sbin/hotplug at all.

I'm using a usb memory device and when I unplug/plug the device I will get
a printout on the console saying:

scsi1 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage device
....

and I can get all the information about the device using udevinfo -a -p
/sys/block/sda

I use an echo line as the debug output in /sbin/hotplug.
I have hotplug support in the kernel (2.6.11.6) and /sbin/hotplug can be
executed.

Dose anyone knows where to look....

/Pelle

Use /bin/logger to write your debug to syslog.
This should also print the subsystem to syslog:
  echo /bin/logger > /proc/sys/kernel/hotplug

I traced a little bit more and "10-udev.hotplug" (linked to udevend) is
called by an event. But no usb-device comes up in /dev. I can manualy
get one by executing udevstart.
What is the next thing to look for?

/Pelle

Hi,

With some debug info it shows that the daemon failed.
reason for that is it failed to set UDEV_BIN and UDEVD_BIN right in
udev_version.h
see Makefile line 253 and 254 in version udev-058.

Mixing build root and target root during build. Don't know if I missed it
but I use DESTDIR= pointing to where I have my cross-target root structure.
I this case that is not the same what the target see during executing....

Build system use "/home/pelle/src/rootfs/sbin/..."
Target system see "/sbin/..."

/Pelle

DESTDIR is for packaging targets, prefix for the path's.
