I have no clue what to do and the website is too advanced for me. Basically, this is a new
install of Mandrake 10.2 but I had to disable my USB controller in the BIOS to install the OS.

I re-enabled it in the BIOS, and now, when I plug my digital camera, it doesn't recognize
it. (it did before with a previous install)

I do not have 'USB' inside /proc/bus.

here is the result of doing a lspci -v|grep USB

00:1d.0 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW (ICH6 Family) USB UHCI #1
(rev 03) (prog-if 00 [UHCI])
00:1d.1 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW (ICH6 Family) USB UHCI #2
(rev 03) (prog-if 00 [UHCI])
00:1d.2 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW (ICH6 Family) USB UHCI #3
(rev 03) (prog-if 00 [UHCI])
00:1d.3 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW (ICH6 Family) USB UHCI #4
(rev 03) (prog-if 00 [UHCI])
00:1d.7 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW (ICH6 Family) USB2 EHCI
Controller (rev 03) (prog-if 20[EHCI])

I also have no clue how to check if USB is complied in my kernel.

I think hotpluging is installed since it's referenced when I search for the name.

Where do I start?
Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks
Marc

Then you do not have the usbcore module loaded. As you installed your
distro with USB disabled, it did not set USB up for you, so you will
have to add it to the modules that are loaded at boot time. Ask on a
Mandrake specific mailing list for how to do this.

good luck,
