Kay, I've been lurking on the list for a couple weeks now and appreciate
the info provided and all the effort everyone has put into developing
udev.

I've read all the udev docs I can find and am puzzled by the above.
Maybe
I've missed something important.

I'm developing an embedded system based on Gentoo, currently using
2.6.14-gentoo-r4 and udev-073, and would like the system to be pure
udev.
I'm starting udev early in the initrd/initramfs using the method
described
in udev-start.sh. I'm a little confused about what else I need to start
and in what order to get udev properly up and running. In the init
scripts
I'm starting hald, coldplug and hotplug early in the process.

Should I be starting the daemon, and if I do, should I be killing it,
and when?

Thanks,

Rod
