Hello and thank you in advance.
My platform is:
ACER laptop Aspire 1600
Pentium 4 2.4GHz
256Mb RAM
...
4 usb ports.
I have installed Fedora Core 3 with all packets.
When I plug a USB - IDE adaptor it is not mounted in /media and I
receive the next /var/log/message:
May 10 12:45:36 acer kernel: ohci_hcd 0000:00:03.0: wakeup
May 10 12:45:37 acer kernel: usb 2-1: new full speed USB device using
address 2
May 10 12:45:37 acer kernel: usb 2-1: not running at top speed; connect
to a high speed hub
May 10 12:45:37 acer kernel: usb 2-1: USB disconnect, address 2
May 10 12:45:38 acer kernel: SCSI subsystem initialized
May 10 12:45:38 acer kernel: Initializing USB Mass Storage driver...
May 10 12:45:38 acer kernel: usbcore: registered new driver usb-storage
May 10 12:45:38 acer kernel: USB Mass Storage support registered.
May 10 12:46:04 acer kernel: ohci_hcd 0000:00:03.0: wakeup
May 10 12:46:04 acer kernel: usb 2-1: new full speed USB device using
address 3
May 10 12:46:04 acer kernel: usb 2-1: not running at top speed; connect
to a high speed hub
May 10 12:46:04 acer kernel: scsi0 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage
devices
May 10 12:46:04 acer kernel: Vendor: Genesys Model: USB to IDE Disk
Rev: 0033
May 10 12:46:04 acer kernel: Type: Direct-Access
ANSI SCSI revision: 02
May 10 12:46:04 acer scsi.agent[4540]: disk
at /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:03.0/usb2/2-1/2-1:1.0/host0/0:0:0:0
May 10 12:46:26 acer kernel: sda : READ CAPACITY failed.
May 10 12:46:26 acer kernel: sda : status=0, message\0, host=7,
driver\0
3269,1 98%
I seems to be a driver problem? What can I do?
In the /dev there is one sda device but not any sda# device.
I try to mount the /dev/sda device but the sistem does not respond (it
hangs)
Thank you very much, sincerily.
J

Send this to the usb-storage maintainers and the linux-usb-devel mailing
list, this isn't a hotplug issue :)
