OK, so this has the same problem as hal, not very surprising, though.

This could be a BIOS bug, or your battery wasn't properly detected
during coldplug. Does this command change anything?

  sudo udevadm trigger --verbose --subsystem-match=power_supply

It should print two device paths, one for the AC and one for the
battery. If the second one is missing, then the trigger didn't help,
and it could be a kernel or BIOS bug.
