It used to work with 2.6.4 in the same setup, with udev-021 (going out on a limb here, I think it was 021, but I'm not 100% sure), but it fails to start with 2.6.4 now, as well. The only change I had to make was that the /dev node is now at /dev/usb/hiddev0 instead of /dev/usb/hid/hiddev0. It still starts with 2.6.4-rc1 and devfs. I don't have time at the moment to try and find out if devfs and 2.6.5 would work or if the nptl may be at fault here (which I don't believe, since 2.6.4/udev/nptl did work, but stopped working with udev-024-r1), let alone to find out what "-r1" means or to try 'vanilla' udev-024. But should anyone on either list have more questions, feel free to ask! While I'm on the linux-hotplug-devel list, I'm not on the apcupsd-users list. If you read this from here and would like a reply, you'll probably want to copy me directly.
