With this situation, you don't get a console and errors in init occur. The udev script on power down removes all devices in /dev, so it begs the question how the above are handled under udev. If I mknod them and arrange for the script not to remove all in /dev, it works fine, but this seems to defeat the purpose behind udev. Thanks in advance for any explanation.
