I have been trying to understand hotplug and I have become highly
confused. I am trying to hotplug a Belkin F5D7010 802.11g Cardbus
device. I have it working by pluggin it in, running 'modprobe
ndiswrapper' and then hand entering iwconfig, ifconfig and route
commands. And ofcourse, now I would really like to automate it.

When I plug the card in, there is no beep. But, messager log reveals:
kernel: cs: cb_alloc(bus 6): vendor 0x14e4, device 0x4320
cardmgr[76]: socket 1: Cardbus hotplug device

and a 'cardctl ident'
Socket 1:
produce info: "Broadcom", "802.11g Cardbus", "4.5"
manfid: 0x02d0, 0x0417
function: 6 (network)

First, why does the log message and the cardctl report different id's?
Which is right?

I have been looking for docs that explain setting up hotplug and I seem
to find confliction. Some state that Cardbus is no longer handled by
pcncia_cs and some say it is.

Where can I find out what is the correct way to configure the installation?

Slackware 10.0
kernel 2.4.26'
hotplug-2004_01_05

Also, plugging in a 3Com EtherLink III pcmcia card hotplugs correctly,
so something is working right.

tj
