I've not investigated this at all yet. I was trying to use a laptop HDD
in a USB/IDE cradle. Syslog reported this:
Oct 26 14:56:58 Penguin wait_for_sysfs[9981]: error: wait_for_sysfs
needs an update to handle the device
'/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.3/usb2/2-1/2-1.1/2-1.1:2.0' properly,
please report to <linux-hotplug-devel@lists.sourceforge.net>
Debian Sid, kernel built from Debian kernel source.
Linux Penguin 2.6.8 #1 Sun Aug 29 20:23:47 BST 2004 i686 GNU/Linux
FYI
Dick

It's cause libsysfs is unable to determine the "bus" value of that device.
We're still working on it. The message is not critical, we just log all errors
for now, to catch the devices not handled correctly. For most of the other
devices this is already fixed in the latest version of udev.
Thanks,
Kay
