Syslog reports this:
Feb 22 16:44:44 yuumi udev[6274]: configured rule in
'/etc/udev/rules.d/network.rules[17]' applied, 'eth0' becomes 'wired'
line 17 in that config file reads this:
KERNEL="eth*", SYSFS{address}="00:08:74:3a:1e:ee", NAME="wired"
Does anyone out there have any ideas on this problem? I'm getting this
same problem with the pcmcia wireless nic on this machine as well.
Thanks,
Jonathan Steinert

Are you sure, that this device is not busy at the time udev tries to
rename it? If it is already configured, you can't change the name.
